Visit one of New Zealand's most renowned eco-tourism areas and the country's only castle.
Enjoy travelling the coastal roads of the Otago Peninsula then onto the high road for the most picturesque scenery towards the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Otago harbour with Dunedin city on the other. Brace yourself for the sight of magnificent albatross gliding gracefully through the air - and landing not-so-gracefully on the hillside at the end of Otago Peninsula. The Royal Albatross Colony offers a rare opportunity to visit the worlds only mainland home of the Northern Royal Albatross. Youll hear incredible facts about their long flights and interesting habits, and learn about the conservation efforts in place to protect these impressive birds.
After a short lunch stop, the tour resumes with the chance to explore the historic Larnach Castle. New Zealand's only castle. Step back in time as you roam through lavishly-furnished rooms and wander the significant and beautifully landscaped gardens. Youll hear stories of the castles past and experience the elegance and grandeur of this architectural gem from a bygone era. Views from the top of the tower are spectacular and the beautiful gardens complete this enjoyable award-winning experience.
In town you will visit iconic sights such as Baldwin Street - the world's steepest street and Dunedin Railway Station before returning to your ship by the required time.

- Please bring a waterproof jacket, sunscreen and a sunhat.

- The tour begins at 10.30am from the city centre, but pick-up from Port Chalmers is at 8.45am (ready for a 9am departure). You will have a little free time in the city before the tour officially starts. This pick-up time may vary depending on your ships docking time so please check your voucher
- There is some walking required, on well-made paths, inclines and steps. We recommend good footwear.
- You will need comfortable walking shoes.

Is this tour suitable for wheelchair users?
Due to the terrain and vehicles at Nature's Wonders, this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or persons with limited mobility. Larnach Castle also has limited access for wheelchairs.
Will I be collected and dropped off at the ship?
Yes, the tour guide will meet you by the ship at Port Chalmers and drop you back there in plenty of time to board before the ship departs.
Will we definitely see the wildlife?
We can not guarantee that the wildlife will always be seen, but our experience is that this is almost always the case. Seals are always to be seen but the Penguins can sometimes be hard to see.
Where does the tour start from?
The tour begins at the ship berth at Port Chalmers. Your guide will meet you alongside the ship before a short transfer to Dunedin city centre where you have some free time to explore before departing for the Otago Peninsula.
